Introduction & Legal Status

Welfare & Relief Committee (WRC) is a non-governmental not-for profit organization committed to improve access to quality health care services, which are equitable, efficient, and affordable in collaboration with governments, international organizations, and private entities. WRC established in 1987 registered with Ministry of States & Frontier Regions (SAFRON) number (F. No two (23) AR. VIII/88, Social Welfare Department under Social Welfare Ordinance 1961 (XLVI 1961, and Governor Secretariat, FATA (Merged Districts of KP) and KPK. WRC is a certified not-for-profit organization (NPO) under Section 2(36) of Income Tax Ordinance 2001

Organizational Structure

Organizational Units & Offices

WRC has the team of 110 members at field and head office level. To streamline the organizational matters different sections/units with separate responsibilities have been set up. These sections are planning and development, MER, quality and accountability, Admin and finance, social mobilization and field implementation etc headed by separate Officers. These units/sections are carrying out their respective roles and responsibilities. The planning and development section is responsible for the strategic planning, projects planning, proposal development and coordination with donors. The monitoring and evaluation section extends support and facilitation to the project team during implementation, conducts regular reviews to gauge the project progress against the set indicators, prepare reports and monitors the project implementation. Support Services Department facilitates projects’ staff in effective and efficient program implementation. Finance unit takes lead in devising and implementing financial policies, procedures and controls according to the growing needs of the organization and ensuring compliance with internationally accepted accounting and auditing standards.

WRC head office is in Peshawar, with all function, Chairman, senior management and support services team is housed in Head Office. At present there are three field offices, one in Malakand to facilitate project implementation in the area and another, District Swabi to facilitate project implementation. WRC establishes field offices considering need for smooth project implementation, monitoring and oversight when the need arises.

Since 1987, WRC has implemented various project and has been supported by government and international donor organizations, WRC specializes in delivering health, nutrition and WASH related projects. Under Health, WRC provides essential curative and preventive services from primary and secondary healthcare facilities, provides necessary HR, training and capacity building, on job mentoring, provision of essential medicines, consumables and equipment, health information system strengthening and Community awareness through behavior change interventions.
